Overview:
To be eligible as a candidate for the Training Program in Echocardiography or Vascular Ultrasound, ONE of the following is required:
- Bachelor's Degree or expected completion of Bachelor's Degree obtained in the United States or Canada, before completion of the one year Imaging Program.
- Graduate from a two-year allied health education program that is patient-care-related. Allied health occupations include, but are not limited to, diagnostic medical sonographer, radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, and registered nurse.
The program is an unpaid internship. Students are not considered co-workers of Mercy. Participation in the program does not guarantee future employment. Program graduates are given high priority for open positions. No tuition is assessed for participation in the program.
Students are required to purchase their own books for self-learning. No financial aid is available. Attendance in the program will not qualify the student for consideration of deferments on federally sponsored student loans from previous educational programs. Students may request a forbearance from their lender on student loans. Medical Insurance: Each student is encouraged to have medical insurance.
Performs a variety of ultrasound imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols under the direct supervision of a licensed technologist. Functions as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs under the direct supervision of a licensed technologist.
Qualifications:

Certifications: Current BLS certification.
Other: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Basic computer knowledge.
