Overview:
Serves as on-site Supervisor for the coding function and coding staff positioned at their local facility. Ensures that the local coding team is meeting all coding goals, following established policies and procedures, and facilitates cohesiveness between the local coders and the Ministry based Mercy Coding Services Department. Supports the Director of Mercy Coding Services in productivity monitoring, coder scheduling, coding edit/failed claims resolution, auditing, and education, as well as ensuring that coding meets all regulatory and compliance guidelines.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: At least 5 years of coding experience in ICD-10-CM diagnosis/procedure coding and/or HCPCS/CPT procedure coding in an acute care setting
Certifications: Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
Preferred Education: A.S. from an accredited Health Information Technology Program or B.S. from an accredited Health Information Management program.
