We are a 18 bed unit that delivers care to a wide range of patients. All housed on 1 unit, Labor patients are taken care of in 1 of the 8 LDRP rooms.  Right down the hall is 8 Postpartum/Post-op rooms that can be used for Mom/Baby Couplet care, post-op C-Sections and Post-op Gyn surgical patients.   A Well-Newborn Nursery and a Level II Special Care Nursery on the Unit make sure the tiniest of patients are well cared for.   Mercy Childbirth Center offers nursing care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for women in labor, postpartum care of vaginal and cesarean section births, birth recovery, antepartum testing/observation, as well as triage of obstetrical patients.  The services provided range from uncomplicated vaginal births to emergent operative birth, including antepartum and labor management of those with complications including gestational hypertension, diabetes, premature rupture of membranes, preterm labor, placenta previa, cervical insufficiency, pyelonephritis, miscarriage and fetal demise.  High risk maternity cases, requiring tertiary care, are evaluated and treated individually.  Transfer to a tertiary care facility is facilitated if deemed necessary by the attending obstetrician.  The unit also cares for post-op surgical patients that have undergone gynecological procedures.  We are a high-energy unit that utilizes, RN's and OB Scrub Techs.  We allow nurses to cross-train to different areas on our Unit.
