Overview:

This training is an introductory course designed to fast-track students into the healthcare field. You may begin this class with little to no experience in healthcare. This training requires a minimum full-time commitment of five (5) weeks. It combines 75 hours of classroom instruction with 100 hours of hands-on clinical practice. This program satisfies the requirement of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services for Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP).

 

Participants must reside within one of the 29 Southeast Missouri counties listed below:
Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Crawford, Dent, Douglas, Dunklin, Howell, Iron, Madison, Mississippi, New Madrid, Oregon, Ozark, Pemiscot, Perry, Phelps,
Reynolds, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, Ste. Genevieve, St. Francois, Stoddard, Texas, Washington, Wayne, or Wright

 

Qualifications:

  • A passion for providing holistic patient care
  • A full-time commitment for the five (5) week training period
  • Completion of a high school diploma or an approved high school equivalency exam
  • Provide documentation of all required immunizations
  • Clearance on relevant background checks
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Participants must be considered one of the following types of workers:
    • New Entrant, Dislocated, or Incumbent. See definitions below:
      New Entrant
      The category of “new entrants to the workforce” refers to those who:
    • have never worked before or who have been out of the workforce for a long enough time to make it as if they are entering the workforce for the first time.
    • This may include, but is not limited to:
      - long-term unemployed
      - formerly incarcerated individuals
    • Also eligible, consistent with federal and state wage and employment laws, are:
      - youth who are enrolled in high school and are currently or will be eligible to be employed before or within six months after the end of the grant lifecycle
      - youth who have dropped out of school and are seeking their first full-time job.
      Dislocated
    • Terminated or laid-off (or soon to be); or self-employed and now unemployed
    • Displaced Homemaker - A person who: Previously provided unpaid services to their family (for example, a stay-at-home mom or dad) Currently is unemployed
      or underemployed and plans to find a job and begin a career.
      Incumbent
    • This term refers to individuals who are:
      - employed but need employment and training services to secure full-time employment
      - advancing their careers
      - retaining their current occupations
      - paid low and medium wages who would benefit from upgrading their skills to retain employment or advance their careers
      - currently working part-time
