General Summary of Position
Leads and manages the activities of the MPBS Training Department and team. Ensures that users throughout the organization are trained to utilize system functionality to the fullest level of which their responsibilities require. Continuously expands and improves training curriculum, develops and updates documentation and training materials. Provides testing and analysis in conjunction with IDX system additions, modifications and/or upgrades. Acts as an internal consultant to both MPBS and clinical departments by auditing and evaluating team's system use. Continuously updates, augments and distributes job aids to all system users and maintains the MPBS policies and procedures manual to ensure synergy between system, operational processes and institutional guidelines.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists Information System team and Practice Liaison Team with validating and implementing system/hierarchy change requests from MedStar Health departments and/or MPBS team, to ensure agreement with current system definitions and parameters.
  • Collaborates with external team to ensure that system training incorporates related subject matter. For example, registration training would include concepts approved by the Compliance Office and the Managed Care office.
  • Develops and maintains trainee assessment tools to identify proficiency and recommends team training to appropriate managers.
  • Develops and refines training documentation as required.
  • Directs and monitors standard IDX system training for appropriate MedStar Health team. Directs and monitors training for Reconciliation and Reporting related activities. Directs and monitors the quality assurance assessment of IDX system user skills.
  • Distributes the quarterly IDX access security listing as directed by management and coordinates with Information Systems to ensure that IDX system users' access is granted only in conjunction with required system user training.
  • Exemplifies Guest and Team Relations standards in all activities in areas of service, resource utilization, high quality outcomes and effective communication.
  • Leads coordination of user testing for system enhancements and upgrades, and ensures that all required testing documentation is complete and accurate and in accordance with Internal Audit standards. Participates in and contributes to organizational meetings regarding system processes, management and enhancements, and reports outcomes to management.
  • Maintains and distributes the duplicate and merged medical record reports.
  • Maintains the MPBS/MEDSTAR HEALTH Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • Oversees activities of the entire Training team. Performs human resources responsibilities, as required.
  • Prepares and distributes the Technical Bulletin as a tool to notify the user population of new information/applications or changes/deletions in existing information/applications.
  • Provides ad hoc support to MPBS Reporting unit to aid in resolving report request backlogs.
  • Provides and oversees on-site training support to the MedStar Health departments and MPBS team, as needed. Develops and presents workshops and/or training sessions to address any new enhancements, modifications and current issues, as needed.
  • Reports and documents consistent problems, issues and trends to management. Trends user performance and identifies retraining opportunities utilizing monitoring/assessment tools.
  • Responds to user inquiries regarding aberrant system performance and unusual demographic/insurance data.
  • Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree preferably in Education or related field required
    • Consideration will be given to an appropriate combination of education/training and experience

    Experience

    • 5-7 years teaching, user support and technical writing required, preferably in a clinical/hospital setting
    • 5 - 7 years of supervisor or leadership experience required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Practical knowledge of computer systems.
    • Excellent analytical skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Extensive experience with Microsoft Suite.
    • Excellent verbal presentation and teaching skills.
    • High energy level, creativity and self motivation essential.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Ability to work and thrive in team oriented, production and deadline driven work environment.
    • Ability to function in classroom settings, as well as provide training on-work-site locations.


    This position has a hiring range of $80,995 - $144,102
