Program Specialist PT (Outpatient) - Pelvic Health 

Internal applicants considered for this position will not be required to transfer from current MHPT location while supporting the Pelvic Health program in DC, Maryland, and Virginia

Job Summary:

MedStar Health is looking for a Program Specialist to join our team! We are looking for a physical therapist with professional competency as a general practitioner in physical therapy; demonstrated independent use of varied evaluation and treatment approaches; the ability to utilize data and performance improvement to solve problems and improve processes; and excellent communication skills including handling difficult situations. 

The Program Specialist will provide physical therapy, services to include but not limited to screening and evaluation, treatment planning, treatment implementation, treatment re-assessment and revision, patient/client re-evaluation, discharge planning, and documentation in a variety of settings. Assists the team in meeting established goals. The Program Specialist possesses recognized expertise in a clinical/programmatic area. Facilitates and leads a program for the hospital, region or network that assists in the growth and development of the overall goals/vision of the organization. Helps develop and maintain systems to increase referrals and to communicate with physicians, insurers and external case managers and the community

Primary Duties:

  • Provides evaluation and treatment services. Explains evaluation findings and treatment plan to patient and family and incorporates them in goal setting. Proficient in implementation of treatment protocols. Consults with other healthcare professionals as indicated. Documents change in patients' conditions. Completes appropriate discharge planning and follow-up care. Documents patient care activities considering our evolving health care environment, painting a clear picture of the patient's course of care including focused initial evaluation/plan of care that establishes baseline and goals, encounter notes, interim progress summaries, and discharge evaluation. 

  • Takes initiative in pursuing and directing continuing education for professional growth for self and organization. Leads the development of the most current evidence-based educational opportunities for the clinicians within their programmatic area. Develops competencies and evaluates staff compliance in programmatic area. Serves as a clinical instructor to assign students. Demonstrates effective time management and meets productivity expectations. Manage an accurate schedule. Demonstrates a professional commitment to provide frictionless patient access to care through flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and actions/behaviors that display empathy in our patient consumer driven environment. 

  • Assists leadership as requested in selection, training, orienting of staff, students, and volunteers. Assist the leadership in special projects to meet the goals of the organization. Works collaboratively with the leadership to develop protocols, policies, and procedures to assure service quality and participates in development and implementation of goals and objectives for specialty program area. Develops a process to assure service quality, delivered in an efficient/cost conscious manner. 

  • Catalyzes communication and collaboration with physicians, and other program/service stakeholders, across the care continuum, promoting improved programming, integration of indicated therapy to promote value driven care and best practice in transitions in care for patients across our communities. Actively participates on teams/committees to promote the goals of the service line/program. 

  • Coordinates community and MedStar outreach and formal marketing initiatives to expand potential patient and referrer awareness of the specialty program area, captures additional program volume as a result. Assist with the initiative in developing and maintaining referrals.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree of an accredited School of Physical Therapy at a Bachelors/Masters/Doctorate degree level. 

  • Maryland, District of Columbia (DC), and/or Virginia licensure required as deemed necessary for your specific location(s). 

  • American Heart Association's BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation) certification.

  • 4-5 years of clinical experience with 2 years of experience with identified programmatic area preferred.

 

This position has a hiring range of $87,318 - $149,094
