Description
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) to join our Clinical Decision Unit team. This position plays a critical role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals requiring observation, short-term treatment and medical care. The Nurse Practitioner will assess, diagnose, and manage patients with a variety of acute conditions, ensuring timely and effective interventions to stabilize their health and support their transition to an appropriate level of care.
Position Overview: The Nurse Practitioner will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary team members to deliver a coordinated approach to patient care. Key responsibilities include performing comprehensive assessments, developing treatment plans, monitoring patient progress, and adapting care plans based on evolving patient needs. Additionally, the ACNP will provide patient education, promote self-management, and facilitate communication with patients' families to enhance the quality of care.
Responsibilities:
•Performs evaluation including physical examination, ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic testing, obtaining informed consent for procedures and providing patient education.
•Provides comprehensive care utilizing protocols and assists physicians/house staff in ongoing patient management as needed.
•Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with standards.
•Participates in interpretation of diagnostic studies as part of the multidisciplinary team.
•Provides case management services to patients and coordinates discharge planning and patient education in collaboration with appropriate physicians and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications:
•Education: Completion of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.
•Licensure: Current RN and NP licensure in Washington, DC.
•Certifications: BLS and ACLS certification.
•Experience: 1-2 years of acute care or medical/surgical experience preferred.
