Description
Performs a variety of laboratory testing from waived to high complexity per Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA). Will work in one or more laboratory sections. Evaluates and reports results for use in patient diagnosis and treatment.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. required
- 1-2 years Two years previous Medical Technologist experience in comparable clinical laboratory setting required and
- 1-2 years Two year experience with chemistry, hematology, blood bank and micro set-up experience preferred
- Certified Medical Lab Scientist-ASCP ASCP, HEW preferred or
- equivalent preferred
- Ability to comprehend and follow the policies and procedures for MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center.
- Ability to read, write and speak or communicate in English to successfully accomplish the essential duties of the position.
- Ability to demonstrate ethical behavior that supports the hospital's mission, values and commitment to compliance with all federal, state and regulatory laws. Inspires trust and exhibits honesty and integrity within the scope of daily activities.

- Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.
