General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is looking for a Manager of Clinical Social Work to join our team! 

This position is the Social Worker Manager for all Palliative Care Social Workers across MMG. In addition to covering routine social work duties as assigned, will also drive professional development for over 20 specialized Social Workers across the system in Palliative Care. Partners with site Medical Directors to assure appropriate staffing and quality across multiple sites, including capture of value-based revenue from payor partnerships, and lends a discipline-specific perspective to performance reviews. Runs point on recruiting, retention, and skill development for the system's Palliative Care Social Workers.

Primary Duties:

· Partners with site Medical Directors to lead professional development and quality assurance initiatives for systemwide social work programs, including CareFirst inpatient bundle, Advance Care Planning, and PATCH.

· Oversees recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management of social work staff; provides Board-required clinical supervision and drives staff engagement and retention.

· Conducts routine quality reviews to ensure compliance and productivity across value-based programs; analyzes social work metrics to support continuous improvement.

· Represents social work across systemwide initiatives, chairs interdisciplinary workgroups, and supports departmental coverage through caseload management, call rotation, and site visits.

· Leads professional development and education on high-risk populations, end-of-life care, and community resources; supports research, teaching, and systemwide cross-coverage efforts.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

· Master's Degree from a School of Social Work approved by the Council on Social Work Education. (Required)

· 5-7 years- Must have at minimum five years Post-MSW experience in clinical social work practice in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented medical setting. Prior leadership experience is highly preferred. Must possess or be eligible to obtain Maryland and DC supervision licenses within 90 days of hire. (Required)

 

Licenses/ Certifications:

· LCSW-C Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical, current MD or DC license, Upon Hire (Required)

· Certification from the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ASCW) Upon Hire (Preferred)

· Willing to get either MD or DC license, applying withing 230 days of hire (Required)

Minimum Qualifications


This position has a hiring range of $100,588 - $190,340
