Description
Oversees and manages the execution of information systems life cycle (i.e., SDLC) activities for small-(departmental or entity-specific) to large-scale (multi-entity or enterprise-wide) projects and programs to achieve MedStar Health's administrative, clinical, financial, and technical goals and objectives. Oversees vendor project and program managers in the execution of project and program activities. Coaches and mentors project managers through the details and application of project initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects. Coaches and mentors project managers through the details and application of the information system life cycle. Responsible for the development of project management-related documentation (scope, schedule, cost, quality, issues, and risks, etc.), information system life cycle-related documentation (work product deliverables), and setup and use of project management tools for projects and programs. Leads all project and program management functions on multiple projects and programs. Mentors other project managers on the application of project management and information system life cycle methodologies. Leads procurement (product selection or RFPs) process.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science/Information Systems, Health Administration, Project Management; or, a combination of equivalent technical experience and education required
- Master's degree in relevant field preferred and
- 35 classroom hours of project management education or 1 year of college project management credits preferred
- 10+ years Progressively more responsible and complex experiences implementing small- to intermediate- to large-scale information systems projects and programs in a healthcare or equivalent complex setting required and
- Demonstrated experience with successful project and program management and information systems implementation activities. Demonstrated successful vendor and customer relationship management skills and negotiation skills. Understanding of portfolio management processes and procedures. required
- PMP, PgMP, or equivalent project or program management credential, certification, education, or training required
- Ability to multi-task.
- Thorough and meticulous attention to minute details.
- Ability to work independently with direction; develops own plan for how to accomplish tasks and follows through to completion.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate meetings and working sessions to meet agenda goals, and to establish long-term professional working relationships with audiences from analysts to senior management.

- Ability to write concise, comprehensive project management and technical documents.
- Ability to present concepts and multiple, discrete project examples to individuals and large audiences.

- Intermediate skills using Microsoft Project.
- Experience using Project Server, Project Portfolio Server, and SharePoint preferred.
