We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Ambulatory Oncology Pharmacy Manager to lead our pharmacy team and ensure the highest standards of patient care.
As the Ambulatory Cancer Institute Pharmacy Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of our oncology pharmacy services. You will be responsible for managing a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and implementing best practices in medication management. Your role will be vital to optimizing patient outcomes through effective medication therapy management, investigational drug therapy, and collaboration with the oncology care team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree or Doctoral degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy required.
Work Experience: 5-7 years as a registered clinical pharmacist required, or 3-4 years with Pharm. D. required, or 5-7 years with residency, in addition to teaching experience required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Familiarity with computers and automated pharmacy software systems/ applications is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications: PHARMD - Licensed Pharmacist in the District of Columbia
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supervises day to day provision of pharmacy services to specified patient care areas. Optimizes drug inventory
management, staffing, internal and intradepartmental communications, drug distribution, etc. to promote departmental
efficiency and cost effectiveness.
2. Provides administrative supervision of technical and professional employees including evaluation, training and development. Counsels and guides staff on improving skills.
4. Provides clinical oversight for a designated area. Addresses complex situations and allocates resources to resolve them.
Monitors drug therapy of assigned patients.
5. Reviews evaluative drug information requests by the staff in a designated area and assures
completeness/appropriateness of recommendations. Responds to evaluative and non-evaluative drug information
requests.
6. Evaluates and dispenses medication orders and assures the prescriptions/orders are filled accurately and according to
departmental policies and procedures.
7. Assesses appropriateness and feasibility for compounding extemporaneous products. Makes recommendations for
alternative products and compounds or oversees the compounding of extemporaneous products.
8. Performs all functions of a registered pharmacist in a designated areas of the department. Prepares IV admixtures and
compounds sterile products.
9. Provides oversight to the content and participation of lectures/programs to satisfy the criteria of the ACPE and
departmental policies and procedures to the staff.
10. Precepts pharmacy students according to individual school criteria and departmental guidelines.
11. Plans, prepares and presents American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) approved lectures to pharmacy
staff and outside groups.
12. Participates in departmental research activities.
13. Contributes to planning and development of on-going pharmacy programs
