Overview:

The Cyber and Intelligence Solutions (C&I) division is responsible for product management and innovative product development of products and services to address the evolving risk & cyber security needs of all of Mastercard's various customer segments. The C&I division was established with the responsibility to safeguard all aspects of safety and security in payments and have made great strides with new products, services and standards, positively impacting all aspects of our current and future payment eco-system.



Ekata, a Mastercard company within C&I, is the global standard in identity verification, providing businesses worldwide the ability to link any digital transaction to the human behind it. Our Ekata Identity Engine, the first and only of its kind, uses complex machine learning to combine features derived from the billions of transactions within our proprietary network and the data from our graph to deliver industry leading risk assessment solutions.



The Ekata – CoreIP Team is responsible for internal business logic, normalizations and enrichment of data and is looking for a Senior Software Engineer in our Budapest office. You would thrive on designing, coding and maintaining high performance data processing applications on the JVM platform (primarily in Scala), running on AWS. Our ideal candidate would have experience in mentoring and leading developers and deep experience building internal and external APIs with the most fitting tools and the passion to champion new and exciting technologies to solve Ekata's unique and challenging problems.

Role & Responsibilities:

Work as part of a Scrum team that is geographically diverse (US west coast and central Europe)

Responsible for developing low-latency, high throughput software backend (JVM, REST API) solutions in a cloud native, geo distributed system

As part of a team with end-to-end responsibility, daily activities include analysis, design, development, test design and automation, deployment and maintenance

Propose comprehensive solutions, write and review design documentations, estimate and plan the engineering work

Understand and adhere to Mastercard standards, processes, and best practices

All About You:

Demonstrated backend software development experience in a professional development team setting

Backend microservice development experience using JVM with any OOP or FP language with modern service framework (as a rule of thumb, min 4y+ or equivalent)

Experience working with cloud native server environments (as a rule of thumb, min 2y+ AWS)

Knowledge of unit and automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipeline and source control systems

Possess strong communication skills in English -- both verbal and written – and strong collaborative and organizational skills

Willingness and ability to learn

Open to work in shifted working hours (until 18:30 ~3 times per week)



Helpful to have:

Experience with Clojure, Scala and related service frameworks; or any other functional programming languages

Experience with customer facing, scalable, and performant RESTful APIs that processes large amount of data

Experience with monitoring tools and supporting high customer traffic APIs (Grafana, Prometheus)

Experience writing automated acceptance tests in Cucumber, RestAssured, etc. (used in CI/CD pipelines)

Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, and messaging (Redis, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, S3, Kinesis, Kafka)

Experience with cloud-based technologies (AWS, Docker, K8S)

Experience with workflow automation like Airflow

Experience working in a CI/CD environment (Jenkins)

Experience with Confluence and JIRA

Education / Experience:

Broad understanding of software engineering craftsmanship is required.

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience.

Experience in delivering secure solutions in Financial / Fraud Services Sector is helpful to have.
