Title and Summary
Manager, Operational Risk and Controls The Mastercard Risk team is looking for a Manager of Operational Risk and Controls to support the execution of our Operational Risk Management strategy, framework and program. This is a key role within the Risk Organization's Operational Risk and Controls (ORC) team reporting to the SVP, Operational Risk and Controls. The ideal candidate should have operational risk experience, managed Issue Management processes and performed risk and control assessments within a large organization. This role is a pivotal part of the second line Mastercard Risk Operational Risk and Controls team.Role - The Manager of Operational Risk and Controls is responsible for managing the execution, application and optimization of specific areas of the organization's operational risk and control program including:
• Manage the Operational Risk and Controls project plan and oversee milestone completion
• Manage ORC program execution and track, manage and report on status of all risk and control efforts
• Develop and manage monthly reporting and dashboards for timely updates to management on results
• Support the adoption of the Operational Risk and Controls Framework and participate in risk and control identification initiatives
• Manage and execute the Issue Management procedures and process working with business owners
• Ensure the GRC tool is updated to capture risks, controls, issues, incidents and risk event information
• Develop and manage cohesive and centralized reporting and dashboards for operational risk & controls and issue management and provide regular updates to the ORC team
• Track, manage and oversee key elements of the Operational Risk and Controls policy and adoption
• Ensure robust tracking, monitoring and reporting for issues, incidents, control gaps, areas of heightened risk and necessary remediation actions through to closure
• Perform Risk Assessment activities (Thematic & Deep Dive Risk Reviews) of issues to understand the trends and areas of concern including the reporting and recommending appropriate remediation
• Work with business owners on issue management and remediation activities
• Manage issuance, tracking and updates of all standards and procedures for the Operational Risk and Controls team including Issue management, RCSA and the operational risk program
• Understand and support the Operational Risk and other Mastercard risk and control frameworks
• Support the ORC team with management and oversight of projects across operational risk
• Stay current on risk management practices and external operational risk events and update the team
• Review the external operational events/trends that can have a potential impact on Mastercard. Events can include issues impacting competitors, global / market events etc.
• Track and manage the development, updates and delivery of operational risk and controls training
All About You:
• Prior relevant operational risk and controls experience in a large organization
• Bachelor's degree in finance, risk management, business, or a related field
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and with minimal day-to-day supervision.
• Knowledge of GRC and Dashboarding tools is desired (e.g. Archer, Open Pages, Tableau etc.)
• Working experience on operational risk programs like RCSA and Issue management programs
• Strong experience on building and managing reporting and dashboards
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Demonstrates ability to operate with independence and autonomy
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills are necessary
• Ability to recognize when to escalate and when to exercise independent judgement
• Strong written, verbal communication and listening skills
• Excellent collaborative skills with ability to work with team members located in multiple geographies and cross-functional teams
• Highly organized and able to proactively manage time and prioritize assignments to meet target dates and deadlines, while delivering thorough, accurate and quality work.
