Title and Summary

Lead Software Engineer Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Engineer to join our Decision Enrichments team within the Decision Management Programme. This pivotal role involves leading a team of both senior and junior Java developers in an agile (SAFe) environment. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with other Leads across the platform, Technical Program Managers (TPMs), Product Managers (PM-Ts), and Quality Engineers (QEs) embedded within the team and at the platform level.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Lead Engineer, you will:

Lead and Inspire: Guide a team of talented engineers to develop high-performance, high-volume Java applications, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Collaborate Effectively: Work closely with technical architects and product owners to define and prioritize features and user stories, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Drive Quality and Scalability: Provide direction to the team to develop high-quality, secure, and scalable software solutions based on technical requirements specifications and design artifacts, within expected timeframes and budgets.
Evaluate Solutions: Assess technical solution alternatives to meet current and future business needs, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
Manage Projects: Collaborate with project teams to meet scheduled due dates, identify emerging issues, and recommend effective solutions.
Ensure Compliance: Ensure the team adheres to MasterCard Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes, maintaining high standards of software quality.
Enhance Processes: Contribute ideas to improve standards and process efficiency, actively seeking opportunities to enhance the team's workflow.
Support Metrics: Facilitate the collection and reporting of project and software metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering.
Extensive Experience: 10-13 years of experience working on scalable, multi-threaded software products developed using core Angular, Java, Spring Core, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Hibernate/JPA, Maven/Gradle, PL/SQL, Unix/Shell scripts, and deployed on Tomcat/PCF.
Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading one or more scrum teams of software engineers, providing technical direction and resolving technical blockers.
Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience working with RESTFUL APIs and knowledge of Cloud Native Development such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) and AWS.
CI/CD Proficiency: Practical knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
Test Automation: Working knowledge of Test Automation Frameworks and related tools such as Selenium, Rest-assured, TestNG, and Postman.
Design Patterns: A solid understanding of Java/microservices design patterns and common industry-standard best programming practices.
Innovative Thinking: Ability to innovate and develop new approaches to complex design problems.
Collaborative Environment: Experience working in a dynamic and collaborative work environment, making independent decisions and contributing to team discussions.
Adaptability: Ability to learn and deploy new technologies as needed, ensuring the team stays ahead of industry trends.
Scalability Focus: Experience in building scalable, maintainable applications that meet global standards.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Agile Methodology: Proven experience using Agile Methodology and working with cross-functional teams, actively contributing to discussions at retrospectives and elaboration sessions.
