Title and Summary
Lead Automation Test Engineer - RTP-1 Overview:A Senior Automation Test Engineer designs testing methodologies, tools, and standards based on industry best practices and performs comprehensive software testing. The role involves leading complex initiatives, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions across projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and Manage Testing Projects:
- Spearhead complex testing initiatives and enterprise-level projects.
- Oversee the entire test cycle, including the planning, execution, and validation of tests.
- May manage small teams (1-3 people) and assign day-to-day tasks.
- Ensure project timelines, budgets, and testing goals are met, providing regular updates to senior management.
Mentorship and Team Development:
- Guide, mentor, and educate junior automation engineers and testers.
- Provide input for performance reviews of junior team members.
- Encourage knowledge sharing and the adoption of best practices within the team.
Enterprise QA Standards and Tools:
- Develop, implement, and enforce QA standards, testing tools, and methodologies.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., business analysts, developers) to define testing requirements for application development.
- Translate complex system specs into detailed test requirements and methods.
Automation Expertise:
- Identify and drive automation efforts to increase efficiency and speed to market.
- Implement build control strategies and automation tools for improved testing accuracy and productivity.
- Lead the replication and resolution of production issues, leveraging subject matter expertise (SME) in one or more applications.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with business and development teams to develop test plans, timelines, and strategies.
- Act as a point of contact for the testing aspect of projects, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Required Experience and Skills:
3-6 Years of IT and Automation Testing Experience:
- Proven experience in test planning, execution, and validation, with a focus on automation testing.
- Expertise in working on full-time IT projects and implementing end-to-end test automation solutions.
Project Leadership and Team Collaboration:
- Experience leading test teams and managing the QA process for complex projects.
- Strong ability to collaborate with business partners, developers, and external consulting vendors to align testing strategies with project goals.
- Experience mentoring and educating junior engineers and testers.
Automation Tools and Techniques:
- Proficient in identifying opportunities for automation and implementing appropriate strategies.
- Knowledge of build control strategies and using modern QA tools to streamline the testing process.
Software Development Methodologies:
- Hands-on experience with both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies.
- Ability to adapt testing practices according to the development lifecycle.
Analytical and Debugging Skills:
- Experience analyzing application logs and using basic debugging techniques to assist engineers in resolving issues.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to test automation and system integration.
This role requires a candidate who not only has a deep understanding of automation testing but also possesses the leadership skills to drive initiatives, mentor teams, and collaborate across functions to ensure quality delivery of enterprise solutions.
