Title and Summary
Director, Strategy & Business Excellence Your Responsibilities1. Business Excellence & Administration
• Act as the key project management liaison for South Asia, working with AP leadership and global teams on new business initiatives.
• Represent progress on strategic projects to the APEMEA Steering Committee (AP/Global) and drive collaborative decision-making.
• Manage business budgeting for South Asia, ensuring alignment between regional leadership and AP leadership on resources and expenditures.
• Oversee dashboards and MIS reporting for key performance indicators, including sales, marketing ROI, and merchant partnerships.
• Drive collaboration on CSR strategy between Public Policy, Marketing, Communications, and Partner Business units. (I think this will be moved to some other team)
• Monitor performance against targets and proactively address potential challenges through action plans.
• Ensure smooth functioning and interaction across multiple levels of management structure of India Country Corporate Office, South Asia Leadership and South Asia Management leaders
• Organize periodic reviews by South Asia Leadership for all business functions to ensure division strategy execution is on track. Maintain and track closure on actionables arising out of those periodic conversations with all functions
• Act as a central liaison point for multiple administrative activities of South Asia, e.g. global investor relations, audit of strategy, etc
• Ensure Sales Excellence discipline across all the customer facing functions of South Asia
• Coordinate senior executive visits for ensuring strategic alignment and smooth execution.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies, manage internal and external correspondence, and oversee special projects as required.
2. Strategy Execution
• Develop and drive the vision and strategy across multiple product, segment, or functional areas while ensuring operational excellence.
• Create high-impact executive-level strategy documents, reports, and presentations that align with Mastercard's business priorities.
• Apply analytical techniques to identify business issues and provide recommendations.
• Support internal teams in strategy execution, including client relationship management and business development.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration to align key stakeholders on strategic priorities and execution plans.
3. Competitive Intelligence & Data
• Track and analyze market trends, competitor strategies, and emerging payments and adjacencies' landscape developments to inform business decisions.
• Obtain, collate, and analyze data from multiple sources to build reliable fact bases and drive insights-led strategy formulation.
• Develop innovative solutions and product strategies by maintaining an in-depth understanding of the evolving payments ecosystem.
• Draft communication plans and narratives that highlight Mastercard's competitive positioning and strategic initiatives.
About You
We are looking for a high-caliber professional with a background in strategy consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, or a similar fast-paced, analytical role. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong execution skills, capable of operating in an entrepreneurial and results-driven environment.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree and an MBA from a top-tier business school.
• Relevant Work Experience: Experience in strategy consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, or financial services. Experience in payments, fintech, or digital products is a plus.
• Business & Financial Acumen: Strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and ability to develop go-to-market strategies with a deep understanding of Mastercard's products and revenue drivers.
• Strategy to Execution: Proven experience in translating strategy into execution, managing multiple initiatives, and driving end-to-end execution in a cross-functional environment.
• Project & People Management: Strong project management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams and managing competing priorities effectively.
• Stakeholder & Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Entrepreneurial & Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to work independently, think creatively, and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
• Confidentiality & Discretion: Capable of handling sensitive information professionally.
• Business and Corporate Development a plus.: Experience in building strategic partnerships, business development or corporate development is a plus.
