Job Summary

Supports the CDC teachers and staff through classroom mentoring and coaching to develop positive, strong cohesive teams. Acts as a resource for teachers to develop classroom strategies, age appropriate management and delivery of quality service. Assists teachers in creating record-keeping methodologies and portfolios for each child with consistent works samples and measurement of progress. Works closely with the Manager and Director to deliver curriculum and other key initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
Minimum Years of Experience: 3 years of experience working in an Early Childhood program in a lead teaching role.
Substitutable Education & Experience (Optional): Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education with 6 years of experience in a lead teaching role.
Required Certifications/Licensure: CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire and renewed biannually.
Required Training: 20 Hours of DSS Training annually 

Essential Functions
  • Provides ongoing mentorship and coaching to teachers, focusing on instructional  strategies, classroom management, and child development.
  • Models effective teaching practices and demonstrates innovative educational techniques.
  • Collaborates with teachers to develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with the CDC's philosophy and goals.
  • Orients new teaching staff and complete on-boarding process. 
  • Reviews and refines lesson plans, ensuring they meet SC Early Learning Standards and meets the individualized needs of students.
  • Coordinates with the supervisor/manager to facilitate lesson planning opportunities.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists teachers in implementing assessment strategies to monitor children's progress and development.
  • Analyzes assessment data to identify areas for improvement and supports teachers in addressing these goals.
  • Fosters a collaborative and supportive working environment among the teaching staff.
  • Communicates regularly with the Director regarding the progress and needs of the teaching teams.
  • Engages and meets with parents and guardians, providing updates on their child's development and addressing any concerns.
  • Ensures that all teaching practices comply with DSS licensing regulations and SC Early Learning Standards, supporting the CDC in maintaining accreditation and quality standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
