The Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems business is a trusted provider of innovative naval gas and hybrid power systems, control technology and support solutions for the U.S. Navy and navies around the world.

DRS is looking for a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Technician to join our team. In this full-time role, you will play a crucial part in assembling motors, electric machines, and a variety of internal components, including piping, alignments, wiring, and conducting essential tests to ensure highest level of quality.

•    Perform mechanical assembly, disassembly, and rework of various products and mechanical assemblies.
•    Interpret and work from standard assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications, and running sheets, often of intermediate to significant complexity.
•    Follow established procedures for reworking components to meet quality control specifications.
•    Conduct testing, inspection, and repair of mechanical assemblies.
•    Work independently with minimal supervision and provide guidance to other technicians when needed.
•    Collaborate effectively within a team and contribute to various manufacturing processes.
•    Adhere to written documents, including SOPs, safety guidelines, and work instructions.
•    Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
•    Interface with other departments to ensure efficient flow of materials and information.
•    Meet production deadlines and uphold high-quality standards.
•    Availability to work overtime and/or 2nd shift when required.

•    High school diploma or equivalent.
•    2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
•    Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills.
•    Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
•    Proficient in the use of various tools, including torquing tools, pneumatic tools, hand tools, saws, and grinders.
•    Ability to use measuring devices with accuracy.
•    Basic knowledge of wiring, piping, and computer operations.
•    Experience in using calibrated tools and understanding compliance standards.
•    Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and reprioritize based on operational needs.
•    US Citizenship is required.

Additional Desirable Skills & Knowledge:
•    Experience with Permanent Magnet Motors, including stacking laminations, installing coils (including brazing), and installing cooling tubes.
•    Familiarity with electrical insulation system testing, including the use of tools such as insulation resistance testers and hipot testers.
•    Knowledge of 6S and Lean manufacturing principles and practices.
•    Machining skills are a plus.
•    Experience with overhead cranes and forklift trucks is desirable.
•    Ability to utilize special tooling, fixtures, and lifting rigs for specialized tasks.
•    Prior experience in assembling large, complex rotating machinery is highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:
•    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
•    Frequent bending, stooping, walking, climbing, and kneeling.
