The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting the HR Team to maximize human resources functions in a high-speed consumer product goods, unionized manufacturing environment. This team member provides HR expertise regarding payroll, time and attendance, recruitment, leaves of absence and FMLA, record keeping, communication, project management, safety, labor relations and affirmative action. This role reports to the location HR Manager and is based on-site in our Seabrook, NJ location.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides support to the HR team in conducting recruitment efforts for the corporate office; handling advertising, sourcing, applicant evaluation, and interviewing.   Conducts new hire orientations and maintains compliance with regulations related to employment.  Handles administrative paperwork associated with the onboarding of new employees.  Conducts onboarding process for all new employees in a corporate office.   Responsible for applicant tracking and coordinating the annual compilation of AAP for all locations.  Maintains employee files.
  • Supports all aspects of payroll and time & and attendance. Familiarity with Kronos and ADP a plus.
  • Provides administrative HR support including legal research, clarifying policies and procedures, and assistance in getting issues and questions resolved.
  • Be a problem solver, who determines the root cause of employee concerns, so they are resolved for the long term.
  • Works with the Director of Talent Management to develop job descriptions for all positions.
  • Coordinates and handles all transactional activities associated with the day-to-day activities of Human Resources.  Represents the company for unemployment claims and hearings.  Participate in project teams/initiatives as required.
  • Coordinates various human resources plans for client groups/plants; assists in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Handles transactional activities associated with the day-to-day activities of Human Resources.   This includes but is not limited to payroll change requests, employee life changes, responding to manager requests for HR-related information, and HR mailings.  Participates in project teams/initiatives as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related curriculum; minimum one year of Human Resources experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess functional human resources skills and experiences, including recruitment and working knowledge of software applications (MS Office, Human Resources Information Systems, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of HR laws and policies, including employment law, disability, and benefits programs. 
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships. 
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task.  Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have excellent time management skills

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience supporting a unionized environment
  • Experience in the food/beverage industry
  • Experience in report writing
  • PHR Certification or completion of PHR preparatory course

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.

 

FREQUENT:  sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.

 

OCCASIONAL:  squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, moderate grasp to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing 20 – 35 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.
