 Research Scientist - Nuerobbiology  Thousand Oaks, CA | Contract | $40+/hr

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Research Associate to join our dynamic team in Thousand Oaks. This is a contract position ideal for individuals with a strong background in both in vitro and in vivo studies. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in establishing and validating models to further our therapeutic goals.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Contribute significantly to the design, planning, and execution of in vitro and in vivo studies focusing on mechanisms of action, early exploratory indications, tolerability, PK/PD, and therapeutic efficacy.
  • Establish and work with in vitro models of neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Utilize proficiency in confocal imaging and/or histology.
  • Assess biomarkers (e.g., Luminex, PCR, ELISA) in animal tissues and cell extracts.
  • Conduct in vivo procedures including rodent handling, blood collection, dosing via multiple routes (IV, IP, SC, PO), urine collection, necropsies, and tissue collection, in compliance with IACUC protocols and AAALAC regulations.
  • Prepare facilities and sterilize instruments for animal procedures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary scientific groups including discovery specialists and Biology team members.
  • Organize and manage laboratory processes and schedules, working with Site Head and Operations and Research teams.
  • Oversee inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining stock for experiments.
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments and procedures following approved company guidelines.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and laboratory management skills.
Qualifications & Skills
  • B.Sc or MS with a minimum of 3+ years of research experience.
  • Strong background in in vitro models of neurodegenerative disease.
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques including ELISAs, protein extraction from cell cultures and animal tissues, and Luminex-based multiplex platform is preferred.
  • Strong in vivo background.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of lab equipment, procedures, and day-to-day laboratory function.
  • Strict adherence to laboratory safety guidelines.
  • Familiarity with basic lab software: Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism, and ELN for record-keeping.
  • Highly motivated, collaborative, and broad-thinking.
  • Great communication skills and ability to present to others.
