Kelly Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced Production Supervisor to lead a diverse hourly workforce at a fast-growing Plastics Packaging Company in Mansfield, MA
Location: Mansfield, MA
Pay Rate: $187K to 218K
Schedule: 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am, Rotating schedule: 4 days on, 4 days off

This pivotal position is designed for a candidate who excels in coaching, developing, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures while maximizing quality compliance. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively resolve workplace issues. As a Production Supervisor, you will guide, train, influence, and support your team members to ensure regulatory compliance, safety, operational efficiencies, and targeted results are consistently met.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Hire, interview, and train employees to build a strong team.
- Conduct performance evaluations and appraisals for employees.
- Analyze work orders to estimate worker hours and create production schedules.
- Compute amounts of stock and supplies required for operations based on production schedules; requisition materials from storage.
- Interpret specifications, drawings, and production orders to workers while assigning duties.
- Plan the flow of materials through departments and develop plans to run machines according to work orders.
- Collaborate with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met and job order statuses are communicated.
- Inspect and measure parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
- Direct adjustments to machines and equipment to repair products that fail to meet standards.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Suggest changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase department or work crew efficiency.
- Recommend capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to enhance quality, cost, and cycle times.
- Promote a zero-harm culture by adhering to safety policies.
- Drive accountability and ownership of production and quality KPIs.
- Ensure compliance with SQF/ISO requirements.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Proven track record of excellent leadership skills and experiences.
- Ability to influence, direct, coach, and develop employees while providing necessary tools for performance.
- Strong delegation skills as required.
- Knowledge of regulatory/compliance issues, ES&H policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Understanding of budgeting, cost controls, and purchasing related to labor and maintenance expenditures.
- Exceptional problem-solving, conflict resolution, facilitation, and prioritizing skills.
- Strong bias to “act on facts” and use “data-driven” logic to develop creative solutions.
- Solid interpersonal and organizational skills with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Moderate to advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.
- Demonstrated strong root cause and corrective action skills are a plus.
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED with 5 years of operations experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience is highly desired.
- Qualification or ability to obtain qualification in the area is strongly preferred.
