Job Title: Experienced Polisher
Department: Manufacturing
Location: Attleboro, MA
Reports To: Manufacturing Supervisor
Pay Range: $19.00–$20.00/hour (DOE)
Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:45 PM
The Experienced Polisher is responsible for polishing and finishing a variety of metal products to achieve a high-quality surface that meets company standards. This role involves precision craftsmanship, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Polish metal surfaces, including brass and nickel silver, using a variety of tools and techniques such as buffing wheels, abrasive compounds, and hand tools.
- Prepare items for polishing by cleaning and inspecting for defects or irregularities.
- Achieve desired finishes such as mirror, satin, or brushed textures based on job specifications.
- Ensure uniformity and consistency of finished products, adhering to quality standards.
- Remove surface imperfections, scratches, and excess materials with precision.
- Operate and maintain polishing equipment, ensuring tools are clean, safe, and in good working condition.
- Collaborate with other departments to meet production deadlines and maintain workflow efficiency.
- Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform routine equipment checks and report any maintenance needs.
- Perform additional tasks and support team operations as required.
- High school diploma or GED required (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum of three years of experience in polishing or finishing metals in a manufacturing environment.
- Expertise in operating buffing wheels, polishing machines, and other finishing tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and correct surface defects.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of safety practices and procedures related to polishing and manufacturing.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word) and ERP systems is a plus.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Regular use of hands and arms to operate tools, push, pull, and grasp objects.
- Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
- May require stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
Visual and Mental Demands
- Routine and consistent work requiring attention to detail and focus.
- Some visual effort may be required over prolonged periods.
Work Environment
- Exposure to noise, dust, and other factors associated with metal polishing.
- Expected to comply with all PPE and safety protocols.
- Some exposure to hazards requiring adherence to safety practices.
