Job Title: Scientist I – Microbiology Laboratory
Location: Cornelia, GA
Note: Occasional travel to lab facilities in Athens, Flowery Branch, and Baldwin, GA may be required.
Shift: M-F, 8:30am-5pm
Pay: $24/hour
Position Overview: The Scientist I position will report to the Microbiology Lab Lead for daily tasks and to the Operations Manager for overall management. The role is responsible for performing routine microbiological testing in compliance with laboratory protocols and procedures, supporting the manufacturing process, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality products to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Routine Testing: Conduct microbiology tests using laboratory instruments, ensuring compliance with established test methods and procedures.
- Documentation: Accurately document test results, including observations and calculations, and maintain detailed records of testing activities.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and report issues during testing, initiating investigations for non-conforming materials, documentation, and test results.
- Calibration & Maintenance: Perform daily calibration and verification checks on laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Data Management: Collect, prepare, and evaluate data, and maintain proper archiving of testing documentation.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow all relevant safety guidelines, federal, state, and local regulations, and ensure adherence to quality system requirements and environmental policies.
- Team Collaboration: Work cooperatively in a team environment, contributing to laboratory housekeeping, safety, and environmental initiatives.
- Equipment Usage: Use laboratory tools such as microscopes, gauges, and other testing instruments as necessary.
- Additional Duties: Complete other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) laboratory environment, performing duties at a Technician 2 level or higher.
- Training: Familiarity with GMP and ISO standards.
- Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities, and a self-motivated attitude.
Additional Information:
- Work Schedule: Full-time with potential overtime
- PTO: 120 hours annually
