Kelly Services is hiring electrical assembly and repair technicians for a Wind Turbine manufacturer in Amarillo, TX.

This position is a long-term contract role (would be renewed yearly) with a chance to be hired on at some point as well. Position pays $27.50/hr and does have some OT (paid at 1.5x base pay) as well some 10 hour days and some work on Saturdays as needed. Position hours are 2p-10:30p Mon-Fri. Position comes with full benefits that include 3 weeks of PTO, paid holidays, health and life insurance, and weekly pay. Must have Steel Toed Shoes (in good condition) and HS diploma (they verify diploma). 

In this role, you will be working on wind turbine components in a warehouse environment (no traveling or climbing turbines). You will be checking active and new components to make sure they function correctly and if there is an issue, you will be the one to repair. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Support team objectives and remain focused on safety, quality, and timely execution to meet required KPI/business metrics.
  • Work within product schedule requirements
  • Participate in pre-work meetings to discuss lift plans, schedule, hazards, quality issues, team stretching  and work requirements
  • Dis-assembly, repair and re-assembly of large wind turbine components without the need for continuous rework.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complicated mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch / variable speed turbine components
  • Have flexibility to work in all workstation areas and to work independently as employee training is complete.
  • Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures
  • Communicate work status to management and engineering
  • Use of various tooling including pneumatic, hydraulic, manual tools required in different workstations.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of mechanical experience. 
  • Ability to lift and/or carry 40lbs
  • Standing on feet for time period of 8-12 hrs.
Desired Characteristics:
  • Basic computer skills
  • Associates' Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited college or university
  • Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical / Electronic field
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Wind turbine experience
  • Gearbox, shafting and/or generator repair experience
  • Crane Operator experience
  • Forklift operator experience
  • Drivetrain disassembly and assembly experience
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative, and work without direct supervision
  • Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
  • Experience using hydraulic power tools
  • Experience with heavy equipment with a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
