Clinical Laboratory Laboratory Manager (CLS)
Northridge, CA | Direct Hire | $135,000/yr
Kelly is hiring a CLS Manager that will be responsible for overseeing the productivity and operations of the Clinical Laboratory in manufacturing blood-based products. They ensure clinical regulatory compliance (CLIA, CAP, etc.) in collaboration with senior medical leadership. This position is standard working hours with the exception of occasional weekends.
Essential Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor lab technicians for SOP and GMP compliance.
- Develop staff training programs and report proficiency tests.
- Maintain professional interactions and image.
- Complete GMP collection documents, and review test results.
- Lead projects to improve efficiency and evaluate lab equipment needs.
- Troubleshoot lab issues and document corrective actions.
- Prepare materials for audits and inspections (AABB, FDA, State).
- Support budget development and maintain lab inventory.
- Perform leukopak processing and blood product testing.
- Maintain and validate lab equipment.
- Comply with SOPs, cGMPs, and safety rules.
- Use blood product information systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of CLS/MLTs.
Qualifications
- BS/BA in Life Science; MS preferred.
- 5+ years laboratory experience with cGMP or GLP preferred.
- 2+ years managerial experience.
- CA state CLS licensure required.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to learn new software quickly.
- Experience with medical and scientific lab equipment.
Additional Skills
- Strong time management and compliance with quality standards.
- Able to handle confidential matters discreetly.
- Clear communication and quantitative data analysis.
- Effective prioritization and issue resolution.
Work Environment
- Work performed in various environments including shipping, laboratory, and office settings with potential exposure to chemicals and infectious materials.
- Frequent lifting or moving items up to 10 pounds; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Usage of PPE as required.
