Automation Specialist
 
Kelly® Engineering is seeking an Automation Specialist for a contract to hire opportunity in Wichita, KS. This is with our client,a startup that provides automation solutions to aerospace, defense, and other industries. Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation:  
$75,000 per year
 
Overview 
 
Our client works at the intersection of academia and industry by applying cutting edge research to real world problems. They provide their customers with the latest automation and control systems.
 
In this role you'll be part of the research team that investigates manufacturing issues and lead efforts to identify & implement PLC solutions. You will design the system, network and integrate the PLC system into existing machinery, lead installation, solve integration issues, and train staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with end users to understand the manufacturing process, sequence of events, and determine appropriate PLC solutions.
  • Design the PLC system, control panels, integration sequence, and the PLC/machinery/system networking
  • Lead installation efforts
  • Develop motion control programs & structural text – prefer Siemens background
  • Create static IP addresses for networking.
  • Test and validate systems, troubleshooting process and installation issues.
  • Develop project timelines, deliverables and due dates.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, or related highly preferred
  • Siemens PLC programming experience highly preferred or competency with structural text programming for motion controls required
  • Competency with PLC networking (Ignition a plus, but static IP address creation highly preferred)
  • Any CAD experience for drawing panels and layouts
  • Required interpersonal skills: time management, verbal and written communication skills to work directly with end users and customers, ability to direct a team during installation and planning phases, ability to provide technical instructions and training as needed to interns.
