Job Opportunity: Assistant Project Manager Join a dynamic team as an Assistant Project Manager (APM) in a leading specialty mechanical sub-contractor company focusing on pipefitting, plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal, and ductwork. Role Overview: The Assistant Project Manager role is an entry point into our construction Project Management career path. APMs are essential for the logistical and clerical facilitation of day-to-day operations across various projects. Entrusted with high responsibility and ownership, APMs support Project Managers (PMs) in planning, directing, completing, and ensuring the financial success of projects by managing all assets, documents, and communication flows. Job Conditions:

  • Supervisor: Reports to Project Manager
  • Work Environment & Location: In-person (100%) with a mix of office and job-site work depending on project size, requirements, and phase.
  • Communication: Frequent interaction with Project Managers, Virtual Design Team, Superintendents, Vendors, Customers (General Contractors/Project Owners), and other Sub-Contractors.
  • Tools/Software Used: Procore, BlueBeam, Timberline, TimberScan, FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Autodesk Fab Review
Responsibilities:
  • Document Control: Manage documents predominantly via Procore and internal drives, including Requests for Information, Submittals, and Invoicing.
  • Communication: Serve as the project point-of-contact for both Internal & External parties.
  • Planning: Prepare material matrices/product lists, schedule materials, and manage equipment buyouts.
  • Field Support: Provide quality control, inspection, field supervision, and ensure safety awareness.
  • Project Tracking: Maintain project timelines in coordination with stakeholders.
  • Jobsite Management: Ensure upkeep and effective management of job sites.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Construction Management/Science or Mechanical-oriented studies (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering).

  • Strong organizational skills and practices.
  • Clear and direct communication approaches with multiple parties.
  • Strong relationship-building abilities internally, externally, and with clients.
  • Adaptability to shifting priorities and capability to identify urgent/emerging obstacles.
  • Foresight and flexible problem-solving skills to account for unknown variables.

Preferences:
  • Approximately 1-3 years of work experience within Commercial Construction or Mechanical Industries.
  • Familiarity or experience within mechanical trades and/or working with tradesmen.
