Reporting to the Perioperative Support Services Leadership team, the Specialist, Perioperative Services will possess extensive technical knowledge of video equipment and instrumentation used in surgical procedures, including sterilization knowledge and in-depth educational training. The Specialist will oversee audio visual and comprehensive live streams of surgical procedures and develop policies and procedures that standardizes live streaming at numerous surgical locations. The Specialist is responsible for overseeing the production of live streaming requests on various platforms from providers while collaborating with other departments such as Risk Management, Media Relations, and Information Technology teams. The Specialist leads and allocates resources to facilitate live broadcast streaming while maintaining and upholding strict privacy standards. The Specialist will also be responsible for managing all surgical video equipment used in productions through inventory and engages and maintains service contracts with external vendors.

Essential Duties:

  • Develops and implements performance improvement programs within the Perioperative Services area.
  • Develops and revises department policies & procedures regarding filming and live broadcasting in the surgical areas.
  • Discusses, engages, and determines video recording and live stream broadcast requests from Providers.
  • Collaborates with Risk Management, Media Relations, Medical Staffing, and Information Systems to ensure compliance and standards of health system practices.
  • Analyzes and resolves business and resource management problems, indicates advantages of alternatives and recommends course of action to resolve any issues.
  • Oversees, controls, and monitors patient care equipment for the department.
  • Promotes effective communication and working relationships within the nursing areas, ancillary departments, physicians, and staff. Serves as a coach and mentor.
  • Contributes to the development of customer service standards and expectations. Establishes methods for monitoring employee, patient and physician satisfaction of the services provided within the department while establishing standards and guidelines for live broadcasting in the perioperative department.
  • Coordinates and integrates department services as a component of the perioperative services on intradepartmental, interdepartmental, and hospital wide levels.
  • Proactively addresses and resolves conflicts and barriers while maintaining clear communication in the decision-making process with Leadership. Promotes self-governance.
  • Monitors and determines space/resource requirements and utilization of outside resources.
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements new surgeons' resource development, ensuring a smooth transition throughout multiple site locations.
  • Collaborates with the health systems Information Systems Department related to Live broadcast and recordings.
  • Acts as a positive change agent by communicating and supporting hospital leadership decisions.
  • Displays understanding of governing regulations, Title 22, and JCAHO requirements, defining and maintaining the standards of nursing practice while ensuring consistency with the hospital standards. Contributes to the development and implementation of a unit-based performance improvement program which complies with JCAHO, Title 22, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req High School or equivalent High school Diploma
  • Req 2-3 years Experience overseeing audio visual media, endoscopy, laparoscopic, robotic and all other image guided surgical technology.
  • Req Knowledge as a vendor for image guided technologies.
  • Req Organization/time management skills.
  • Req Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Req Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref Associate's Degree in a related field
  • Pref 2-3 years Experience as a vendor or specialty technologist using image guided surgical technology and audio visual media broadcast.
  • Pref Sterile Processing Certification

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The annual base salary range for this position is $68,640.00 - $112,370.00.
