Holyoke Medical Center is searching for a Medical Director of Emergency Services#to provide leadership and management for the Emergency Medicine service. Emergency Department Service Management Responsibilities To provide leadership, planning, organization, staffing, coordination, and evaluation for the Emergency Medicine Providers. To serve as medical director for Holyoke Medical Center EMS services.# To promote collegial relationship of the Emergency Department with medical staff, nursing staff, and all services which come in contract with service. To be responsible for medical administration, personnel, and activities of the Emergency Medicine Service, and collaborate with Emergency Medicine Administrative team on matters that need further consultation. To be responsible for ensuring the ethical practice of medicine within the Emergency Medicine Department. To supervise and have responsibility for Emergency Medicine providers in clinical and assigned administrative duties. To serve as liaison with hospital administration and Emergency Medicine providers. To represent interests of Emergency Medicine providers to hospital and medical staff. To schedule Providers to ensure physician coverage for Emergency Medicine. To prepare Emergency Medicine provider budget and manage Emergency Medicine Service within budgetary limits. To promote and participate in a collaborative, interdisciplinary Emergency Medicine leadership team. To collaborate with nursing leadership and Emergency Medicine providers to ensure that service performance meets or exceeds standards described in the medical staff rules and regulations, in the hospital bylaws, departmental policies, and DNV Accreditation standards, and in other appropriate local and national standards. To work with hospital leadership team to ensure that the Emergency Medicine providers meet or exceed its defined objectives for improvement, growth, and expansion of services. To assist in building enthusiasm, stability, teamwork, and competence among employees through supervision, individualized evaluation and counseling, training, and praise for a job well done. To ensure department policies are known, understood, and implemented by the Emergency Medicine providers. To monitor correctness and appropriateness of the Emergency Medicine provider records; implement corrective intervention as required in association with medical records and quality assurance mechanisms. To provide counseling, advice, information, and general support to Emergency Medicine providers. To maintain an Emergency Medicine office and be accessible for routine department business when clinical responsibilities allow.# To schedule regular service meetings and set agenda To encourage open forums for Emergency Medicine provider communications and problem solving by all Emergency Medicine personnel. Qualifications:#Graduate of an accredited school of medicine and successful completion of an internal medicine residency program or other primary care specialty; current license from the Mass. Board of Registration in Medicine; current DEA License; current license from the Mass. Dept. of Public Health for a controlled substance license; Board certified or Board eligible in clinical specialty; five years experience in Emergency medicine. #
