  • The telemetry RN will provide competent and caring nursing skills while upholding the mission, vision, and values of Heywood Hospital.
  • Able to interpret cardiac rhythm strips and to act/react to those findings.
  • This position includes assessment, interpretation of physiological elements, development of nursing plan of care, patient education, communication with physicians, and more.

    Job Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • 1 year med-surge experience preferred
  • Previous telemetry experience preferred
    Schedule Information
  • May require rotation of shifts or adjustment of hours to meet departmental needs.
    Unit Specific Information
  • Position requires the ability to interpret cardiac rhythm strips and to act/react to those findings including knowledge of IV drip titration as appropriate to W1/telemetry patient needs.
  • Responsible for obtaining supporting information and completing required documentation related to medication reconciliation for use by the Attending MD.
  • Interprets and documents patient cardiac rate, rhythm and configuration and initiates appropriate treatment plan based on physician orders.
  • Evaluates and takes appropriate action for patients with chest pain or other cardiac related symptoms.
  • Assesses patient pain level upon admission and as necessary, depending upon diagnosis utilizing the numerical pain scale.
  • Safely administers medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physicians orders, protocols, policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes pain management devices and other techniques to ensure proper pain relief.
  • Sets up, maintains and troubleshoots other equipment related to the surgical patient such as traction/orthopedic equipment/devices, feeding pumps, chest tubes and drains, etc.
