Description
The Yard Operations Manager will manage all aspects of Yard Management at the Distribution Center and support Corporate transportation partners, as well foster a relationship with Domestic carrier partners, and retail stores. He or she will be a key contributor in continuing to build highly integrated processes to support IB/OB flow through DC operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage, analyze and report on Yard Moves, equipment utilization, Yard Management activities with Vendors, financial performance vs. budget ($2+M);
- Develop, manage and maintain operating budgets, Preventative Maintenance scheduling, SWPP Management, Yard Safety and Security.
- Manage Operations, Retail Ops, Transportation Operations, Asset Recovery Operations relationships and implement continuous improvement process that optimize Yard Management and Operational flow through the Distribution center.
- Supervise, manage, and mentor at least 4 direct reports; and a team of 50+ associates
- Participate in setting daily action plans based on an analysis of workload, resource availability, and priorities;
- Participate in management meetings to align transportation, Planning, Slotting, and DC operation needs;
- Enforce carrier and transportation scorecards and KPIs as it relates to DC Operational impacts in partnership with Transportation Operations;
- Conduct weekly performance and compliance/customer service reviews with DC Ops & Transportation Operations;
- Provide support as necessary for the management of all Yard centric vendors and contracts.
- Oversee Mulit-site shuttle services across the Dillon campus in South Carolina.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
- BS in Logistics, Business Management, or related field highly preferred
- 3-5 years of management experience in the domestic transportation field for a retailer or distribution center
- Experience with Truckload, LTL, Intermodal, and small package/parcel modes, and yard management
- Must have an understanding and in-depth knowledge of domestic transportation industry best practices
- Experience with outsourced transportation management and multiple modes of delivery
- Proven ability to develop and mentor direct reports
- Experience with managing transportation functions in an extremely fast paced, high energy and growing organization
- Advanced computer and analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal, written, presentation and partnering skills
- Ability to collaborate and desire to work cross-functionally
- Results driven with quick response mentality
- Lift and carry items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance on an intermittent basis. Team lift should be used for lifting any items weighing greater than fifty (50) pounds.
- Reaching and working above the shoulder level on an intermittent basis.
- Bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting and reaching heights on an intermittent basis.
- Have the ability to work near or around moving parts and equipment.
- Have the ability to work off shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- Have the ability to adapt to and work in seasonal temperature changes - hot / heat in summer months and cold in winter months including indoor / outdoor environments.
Must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices, without endangering the health or safety of self or others.
