Description
The Planning Specialist will strategically support distribution center operations by executing standard planning processes to support DC departmental operations maximizing the departments throughput while managing multiple inputs and outputs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Consume multiple reports and inputs to produce and publish daily operational plans for distribution center area as assigned.
- Use critical thinking skills to problem solve operational set up scenarios within the context of approved SOP
- Train and maintain proficiency in planning processes covering multiple distribution center operational departments.
- Interact efficiently and effectively with other departments as needed to resolve planning and operational discrepancies.
- Develop collaborative relationships with operational areas to maximize efficiency through effective communication.
- Ensure that the operations team is provided with accurate, timely and relevant reporting, key performance indicators and additional assistance as required.
- Assist in training and cross-training of other planning associates into role.
- Populate and generate daily reporting as required for execution of daily role and adherence to key performance indicators.

Requirements
Education and Experience
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required, associate degree preferred, certification or degree in supply chain preferred.
- 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred
Years of Experience
- Minimum of 1-3 years distribution center operations experience.
Skills
- Ability to work well with short deadlines and exhibit a sense of urgency.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to problem solve, navigate complex situations, and analyze complex problems and provide clear resolution.
- Microsoft Office knowledge: Introductory level for Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Intermediate level for Excel: vlookup, pivot tables, formulas, and reporting.
- Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (Manhattan preferred).
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret reports from multiple sources, data sets and make recommendations from.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
- Ability to effectively present information to all levels of leadership and the distribution center team.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts to solve practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching heights on an intermittent basis..
- Grasping, pushing, and pulling of materials on an intermittent basis for up to twelve hours per day. Reaching and working above and below the shoulder level on an intermittent basis.
- Ability to safely team lift, lower, and move items over 75 pounds over the course of a workday with or without assistance.
- Must be comfortable working with and around forklifts, conveyer systems, scissor lifts, and hazardous machinery.
- Must be comfortable with performing many of the tasks listed above from a ladder up to fifteen feet in elevation above the floor surface observing safety controls.
- Must utilize proper safety controls at all times.
- Must be able to drive automobiles, forklifts and scissor lifts.
