Summary: The Director of Student Life at Fusion Academy Buckhead ensures student life encompasses a positive and engaged campus community, personalized mentoring for every student, assistance with independent work, and comprehensive social and emotional programs.

Your Day to Day:

Oversee the Homework Café to support students with independent work completion and organizational skills.

Create a positive, safe, and supportive environment for all students through teaching social-emotional skills.

Facilitate student events, such as clubs, field trips, service learning, workshops, and student meetings.

Hire and train Homework Café staff.

Administer student assessments and surveys to allow for data-informed decision-making.

Contribute to staff development regarding student social, emotional, behavioral, and executive function support.

Inspire staff through exemplary leadership practices grounded in academic expertise, integrity, and commitment to excellence.

What You Will Own:

Create the Annual Student Programming Plan.

Administer the MAP and Mindprint assessments.

Administer the New Student Survey, Spring Student Survey, and Student Exit Survey.

Manage Extended Homework Café.

Participate in organization-wide collaboration and development.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

Leadership experience strongly preferred.

Experience working at the middle or high school level.

Experience working with students impacted by learning differences and/or mental health challenges.

Passionate about working with adolescents and supporting their growth.

Exhibits a unique and fun personality to support a vibrant student culture.

Demonstrates high emotional intelligence and ability to relate well to others.

Possesses strong time management and organizational skills.

Candidate must have knowledge and/or experience in:

  • Counseling, education, or a mental health-related field.
  • At least 3 years working in an environment with adolescents who demonstrate a wide range of learner and social-emotional profiles.
  • Strong group facilitation skills and the ability to maintain a positive social environment for students.
  • Ability to teach social-emotional skills and create opportunities for peer connections.
  • Ability to foster creative adolescent programming ideas.
  • Experience with compassionate discipline, conflict resolution & pro-social communication models (Collaborative Problem Solving, Non-Violent Communication, Restorative Justice, Motivational Interviewing).
  • Experience & expertise in adolescent development, learning differences, and social-emotional difficulties. (Equivalent roles may be: Community Program Coordinator, Student Behavior Specialist, Student Program Specialist, Creative Arts or Recreation Therapist, Student Dean, or School Guidance Counselor).
  • Strong pro-social communication strategies and mentoring skills.
