Vista Veterinary Specialists is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our team!
Our 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital provides care in internal medicine, critical care, radiology, and cardiology. Our modern facility offers a full in-house laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasonography, on-site CT, and endoscopy.
About the Job:
As a Veterinary Technician/Assistant in our Emergency/Critical Care department, you will be responsible for:
- Shifts: 4-10's, Day shift.
- Caring for a variety of cases- Emergency and Specialty Medicine.
- Must be able to prioritize patient hourly treatments and delegate tasks. Triage critical patients, recognize changes in patient status and report to the doctor, educate/update owners on patient status, and discharge patients from the hospital.
- Assessing hospitalized patients needs and communicating details to the DVM overseeing the case.
- Inpatient treatments and nursing care throughout the shift.
- Calculating and administering medication, fluid additives, CRI's
- Partnering with DVM's in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
- Obtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, and, free fluid.
- Placement and maintenance of nasogastric tube, nasal cannula, central venous catheters.
- Utilizing different modalities of imaging for patient assessment.
- Executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events.
- Surgical assisting for minor (non-specialty) procedures.
About You:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital setting is required. 1 year of ECC experience is preferred.
- RVT or VTS preferred but not required.
- Comprehensive understanding and experience with anesthetic monitoring.
- Proficiency in processing basic laboratory specimens and working knowledge of radiographic techniques is required
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is required.

- Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected.
