Enterprise Products Partners L.P. is one of the largest publicly traded partnerships and a leading North American provider of midstream energy services to producers and consumers of natural gas, NGLs, crude oil, refined products and petrochemicals. The Staff Fixed Equipment Engineer is responsible for proactive fixed equipment and piping engineering and reliability support. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist static equipment design, material selection, reliability, and construction quality assurance.
- Evaluate piping and equipment repair methods.
- Provide engineering support to Operations, to include engineering repair solutions.
- Support and advise on key static equipment and mechanical integrity considerations. This may include but is not limited to:
- Fitness-For-Service assessments
- Vibration and noise analysis
- Piping stress and flexibility
- Thermal expansion
- Fired heater design
- Heat exchanger design
- Valve and Gasket selection
- Metallurgical analysis
- Boiler design and operation
- Make advancements or develop needed calculation tools, processes, procedures or standards, to improve project design, material selection, quality assurance, and reliability.
- Provide input during new construction design model reviews.
- Review construction stress calculations and design for complex designs and critical equipment.
- Conduct field walkdowns for critical areas during new construction.
- Stay current with regulations, industry standards, engineering, inspection and repair methods, and applicable technologies and propose program improvements as appropriate.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for certain processes, procedures, and Company standards associated with Fixed Equipment.
- Assist inspectors planning mechanical integrity assurance programs and preventative maintenance programs for OSHA, PSM, EPA, SPCC and DOT covered assets.
- Perform Level 1 and 2 Engineering Fitness for Service assessments.
- Mentor less experienced engineers in the Facility Mechanical Integrity department
Requirements
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
- A minimum of ten years' experience in engineering, inspection, test, repair and alteration of fixed equipment is preferred.
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required.
- This position requires travel to Company facilities up to 30% of your time
- Engineering Fitness for Service (FFS) assessment experience is required.
- Stress analysis experience is preferred.
- Excellent communications skills and computer skills, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel, are required.
- Must have working knowledge of the Federal and State regulations affecting fixed equipment, including: Process Safety Management (PSM), DOT and EPA RMP requirements.
- Technical knowledge and practical working experience in condition and time-based inspection processes, non-destructive examination (NDE) method selection and fixed equipment defect assessment and repair are required.
- Must be well versed in the API 510, API 570, API 579, API 2201, API 650, API 620, API 653, API 571, NBIC, ASTM specifications, ASME Section VIII Div. 1 and 2, ASME B31.3, B31.4 and B31.8.
- Working knowledge of damage mechanisms occurring in fixed equipment in petrochemical and midstream environments is required.
