The Field Process Engineer provides process engineering and technical support for the operation of Enterprise's plants and pipelines in the Houston region. The Engineer, under the direction of the Manager and more senior engineers, ensures that facility upgrades and changes are designed and constructed in accordance with the Company's Engineering guidelines and Specifications, Industry Codes & Standards, and Regulatory Agency requirements while also meeting functionality and performance requirements. In addition, the Engineer will provide process designs which will contribute to cost saving enhancements that will significantly improve the efficiency and capacity of the plants and/or reduce the operational costs.
The Field Process Engineer will be assigned to specific production units and pipelines to provide support to Operations, Maintenance, Commercial, and Distribution. The Engineer will monitor the key performance indicators of the plant ensuring that it is operating efficiently and will provide technical expertise and scope developments for expansion and improvement projects at Mont Belvieu. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide technical support to the Company's Operations, Maintenance, and Commercial departments.
- Troubleshoot plant issues and develop recommended remediation plans and designs.
- Perform plant simulations to establish baselines, simulate modifications and estimate performance enhancements to existing plant facilities.
- Perform and check design calculations and equipment sizing.
- Perform Plant Optimization Studies (Surveillance) and monitor key performance indicators to determine if existing assets are performing to expectations. When opportunities for improvement are identified the Process Engineer will take the lead in their design and implementation to increase efficiency and production while reducing costs.
- Prepare project design scopes in support of capital projects, commercial development, and plant optimization.
- Prepare bid packages for equipment and outside services including engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
- Participate in reviews of designs prepared by outside engineering contractors, vendors, fabricators, and manufacturers.
- Monitor field construction activities to ensure compliance with contract drawings and specifications.
- Prepare project completion reports including construction material inventories and as-built drawings.
Requirements
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
- BS in Chemical Engineering is required.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a refinery/chemical plant environment or related industry engineering within a continuous production facility is required.
- Experience with distillation, light hydrocarbons, petrochemical, Pipelines. Underground Storage is a plus.
- Familiarity with API Standards and OSHA 1910.119 (PSM),
- Proficiency in basic PC skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
- Process modeling software such as Hysys or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to either work alone or as part of a team are essential.
- Must be proficient in balancing multi priorities and activities and meet deliverable.
- Must be willing and able to travel 10% with minimal overnights.
- Ability to handle multiple fast-paced projects with constantly changing priorities and scope.
- Ability to quickly absorb the key deliverables and not get mired in details.
