Position DescriptionENSCO is seeking motivated and talented interns to join our geophysics team. This internship provides hands-on experience in geophysical data collection, signal processing, machine learning, and subsurface modeling. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on cutting-edge projects that contribute to national security, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure protection.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in geophysical surveys including ground-penetrating radar (GPR), seismic reflection, and or seismic refraction.
• Process and interpret subsurface data to create detailed geological models.
• Develop algorithms for seismic, electromagnetic, and acoustic sensor systems.
• Assist in real-time implementation and testing of machine learning models.
• Utilize Python to analyze resistivity logs and geophysical data sets.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate custom sensor solutions.
• Contribute to technical reports, white papers and proposals.

Qualifications Required (Skills)
- Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Geophysics, Geological Engineering, Earth Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience in geophysical data collection and processing techniques such as ground penetrating radar (GPR), seismic data processing, electrical resistivity tomography, magnetic surveys, or electromagnetic methods.
• Experience collecting and analyzing timeseries data.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or C++ for data visualization, analysis, and machine learning applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in field environments.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance SECRET or TOP SECRET/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI), FOR WHICH YOU MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN.
Qualifications Desired
- Knowledge of GIS tools such as ArcGIS and QGIS.
• Experience in machine learning techniques applied to geophysical data.
• Understanding of signal processing, including Fourier and wavelet transforms.
• Active SECRET and/or TOP SECRET/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance
