Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Oncology Informatics Officer (COIO), the Senior Program Manager (SPM) is responsible for fiscal and operational oversight of the program, management of the project portfolio, client relations, and coordination of technical work performed by individuals spanning several organizational entities and departments. The position requires a blend of operational, planning, communication, collaboration, and relational leadership skills and will interface with clinicians, researchers, technical staff, and senior ACC leaders.

The SPM works with the COIO and ACC leaders to ensure the informatics project portfolio and roadmap are aligned with strategic goals and priorities. He or she establishes and enforces standard operating procedures for client requests, new project intake, cost estimation, project and task prioritization, and other processes. The SPM leads the team in setting near-term goals and prioritizing the backlog of tasks to ensure that strategic objectives are met. While not a technician him or herself, the SPM must have a thorough understanding of the project life cycle for healthcare data analytics services, electronic health record optimization, and software development projects.

The SPM is the primary liaison between the informatics team and its clients and stakeholders, communicating regularly to clarify needs, priorities, and acceptance criteria for projects and services and to gather feedback. This gives the role a high level of accountability and visibility within the organization and necessitates strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Oncology informatics is a complex, dynamic, rapidly evolving domain, and the SPM position requires a high degree of sophistication, resourcefulness, creativity, organizational savvy, discretion, self-motivation, and enthusiasm for learning.

Position is contingent upon continued funding.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

Master's and 5-7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 7-10 years of Product Owner, Project Management, Program Manager or other experience leading projects/initiatives in a healthcare setting preferred

Skills & Abilities:

Ability to translate business requirements and technical requirements.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of software development lifecycle.

Ability to work collaboratively with development teams.

Applies knowledge of health care operations and system to facilitate coordination between stakeholders and developers.

Ability to influence key stakeholders and drive alignment across diverse teams using persuasive communication and strategic relationship-building.

Ability to identify and manage scope creep.

Aptitude for assessing group dynamics and adapting communication strategies to the audience's needs.
