Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 370-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael California serving the areas of north Sacramento County and south Placer County for more than 50 years. **Responsibilities**

**Senior Nursing Director Emergency Services**

Our fast paced 31-bed Emergency Services department is seeking an experienced leader. We see approximately 80,0000 patients a year and we receive more ambulance traffic than any other hospital in the greater Sacramento area. Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a Level 2 Trauma facility and are the area's first Comprehensive Stroke Center. Additionally, MSJ is a regional receiving center for many specialties including trauma, ortho, high risk maternity, NICU and STEMI.

**Position Summary:**

Provides expert clinical guidance in a specialized field and coordinates patient care quality initiatives.

**Principal Duties and Accountabilities:**

Responsible for the overall quality of care provided by the nursing personnel. Advises medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing service and strategies.

Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups.

Monitors the operations of the nursing staff and ensures compliance with regulations on organizational and governmental standards and practices. Schedules staff and conducts employee performance reviews.

Assesses a healthcare facility's nursing practice and its impact on patient outcomes. Oversees established patient care standards and develops and implements quality improvement initiatives.

Provides consultative care and guidance to patients, family, and other members of the clinical staff.

Conducts research into area of specialty and uses findings to provide measurable improvements in patient care and clinical outcomes.

**Qualifications**

**Education and Experience:**

Bachelors Degree in Nursing (e. g. BSN) or equivalent education and experience and Masters degree in nursing or other-related field (e. g. MSN/MBA/MHA).

Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience and three (3) years of nurse leadership experience in an emergency department.

**Licensure:**

Registered Nursing License (RN) in state of practice

Current AHA BLS required

AHA ACLS preferred

**Pay Range**

$75.64 - $109.67 /hour
