Description

This position within the Division of Cancer Genetics and Prevention in collaboration with faculty investigators and the research team will support the research team in the overall conduct of national and/or institutional projects related to cancer prevention, early identification of individuals at high risk for cancer, and biorepository collections, using Good Clinical Practice under the auspices of the Principal Investigator(s) and the DFCI Clinical Trials Office. The Research Data Specialist (RDS) will be responsible for the collection, management, and quality assurance review of patient clinical data including the evaluation of medical records, abstraction, and recording of pertinent clinical information.

Review and abstract the medical records and other records for patients and study participants. Enter data into REDCap, Progeny, and other databases.

Access patient demographic and clinical information from the clinical systems. Enter information into project databases.

Assist principal investigators and staff in the creation of data reports for quality assurance measures and project specific needs.

Request tissue and medical records for various research needs.

Evaluate and track the eligibility of all patients seen in the clinic for inclusion in various studies.

May assist or be responsible for consenting eligible patients in clinic.

Administration of patient questionnaires in clinic and electronically.

Coordinate the collection and organization of biological specimens including maintenance of electronic specimen tracking systems.

Bachelor's Degree required.

0-1 year of related experience preferred. Experience working in a medical or scientific research setting or comparable technology orientated business environment preferred.

Computer skills, including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products, required.

Excellent organizational and communication skills required.

Strong interpersonal skills - ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and external contacts.

Must be detail oriented and have the ability to follow through.

Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize workload.

Must practice discretion and adhere to institutional confidentiality guidelines at all times.
