Summary This Registered Nurse (Quality Management Accreditation Specialist) position is located in the Quality and Patient Safety Services at the Leeds, MA location and reports directly to the Chief of Quality Management, in line to the Medical Center Director. This position is full time at 40 hours per week. Responsibilities Included but are not limited to: Responsible for planning, organizing, initiating and directing activities related to survey/inspection readiness and accreditation for the OIG, TJC, CARF, and other accrediting/regulatory bodies. The position must exhibit leadership that is characterized by responsibility and accountability for continued implementation, utilization, and evaluation of the facilities programs in risk management, clinical analysis, patient safety, utilization with a primary focus in accreditation. Experience interacting with regulatory bodies such as TJC, OIG, CARF, in addition to employees at the Veteran Integrated Service Network (VISN) 1. This position must perform duties directly contributing to the administrative management of a healthcare delivery system that requires the ability to apply the specialized principles and practices of health care management in directing or supporting a health care delivery system. He/she serves as a staff member directly supporting the Accreditation & Regulatory Programs and management teams responsible for planning, organization, development, direction, and evaluation of the Medical Center. Must possess comprehensive knowledge in principles and practice of the health care field with emphasis on quality, safety, utilization, and performance improvement with strong skills in consulting, education, database and information management, evaluation techniques, group process, team and organizational development, and customer service and satisfaction. Quality activities include knowledge, application skills and support of quality programs such as risk management, clinical analysis, document control and patient safety. This position also functions as a subject matter expert on committees and services regarding accreditation and regulatory activities. Works closely with the Quality Manager and service leaders providing guidance in survey preparation and follow-up. Qualifications Basic Requirements: English Language Proficiency. In accordance with 38 U. S. C. 7403(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE); OR Individuals attending a master's level bridge program in nursing who have completed coursework equivalent to a bachelor's level degree in Nursing may have opportunity to become registered as a nurse with a state licensing board prior to completion of the bridge program. Upon achievement of a State license, the individual may be appointed on temporary basis and later converted to a permanent appointment upon successful completion and graduation from the bridge program. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6); OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing to warrant an appointment as a Nurse who has completed an associated degree/entry level Nursing education program. Credit for foreign nursing education higher that associate degree/entry level requires a formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized equivalency evaluation accepted by VA such as International Consultants of Delaware (ICD).
