The Cardiovascular Intervention Center is a core element of the Smidt Heart Institute, performing more than 8,000 procedures a year. The department serves the populations of neonates to and including geriatrics. In this twelve-laboratory facility, we perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for coronary artery disease, heart muscle function and heart valve dysfunction.
**Job Summary** : As an EP Lab RN in the Cardiovascular Interventional Center (CVIC), you will deliver patient care by assisting interventional EP procedures including arrhythmia ablations, cardiac implantable electronic devices such as pacemakers and cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs). You will also be cross-trained to use your clinical competencies to circulate, monitor, administering medications for invasive procedures. This role entails care of Cardiac patients from point of admission to discharge, including prolonged hours in a procedure setting with x-ray exposure. Responsibilities include: On-call coverage for urgent procedures on weekend with an expected 120 minute maximum response/arrival time. The scope of responsibility, duties and accountability at the facility department and position levels including knowledge and practice of the clinical/technical skills necessary to the position consistent with the Nurse Practice Act. Nursing job duties are to meet the Nurse Practice Act, Title 22, The Joint Commission and the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care and the Plan for Provision of Care to Patients, and other regulatory requirements.
**Qualifications**
**Educational Requirements:**
-Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required
-BSN strongly preferred
**Licenses:**
-Valid California RN License required
BLS from American Heart Association or Red Cross
**Experience:**
-A minimum of 3 years of Acute Care Nursing experience required
-At least 1 year of Critical Care experience strongly recommended
-A minimum of 2 years of appropriate Cath Lab/EP, Interventional Radiology or similar procedural experience
