This position requires you to work on site at one of our facilities located throughout Broward County.

This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) positions and as such no paid time off is offered. Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment. OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a professional public health nutrition position working as a Nutrition Educator in the Department of Health in Broward County WIC program. Employee provides nutrition assessment and counseling for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). Work is performed under the supervision of the Public Health Nutrition Supervisor.

This position is designated as a sensitive position and is required to maintain information in accordance with state and federal statutes, rules, and regulations, as well as of the Florida Department of Health in Broward County Policies, Protocols, and Procedures. This position has been delegated custodial authority for their Program/Unit's information set(s) and/or secured areas(s).

Provides individual and group nutrition assessment and education to high and low risk clients for the WIC Program. Assists clients in making client centered, measurable, and obtainable goals. Provides breastfeeding promotion, education and support to WIC clients. Responsible for documenting all client contacts in the WIC Data System. All work is performed following DHM 150-24 rules and regulations.

Determines client eligibility following DHM 150-24 rules and regulations.

Performs anthropometric measurements and hematological testing for WIC clients following DHM 150-24 rules and regulations.

Attends staff meetings, trainings and staff development activities as required. Completes leave, attendance, EARS, travel and any other reports as required and according to established procedures.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Willing to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours, or days in the event of an emergency.

Have a bachelor's or master's degree in Nutritional Science, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, or Dietetics from an accredited college or university.

Able to work early mornings, late evenings, and Saturdays.
