We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's diverse student body as a One Year Lecturer of Teaching and Learning beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year in the Department of Teaching and Learning.

Department/CollegeBackground
The Department of Teaching and Learning, in collaboration with other departments, is a key producer of Latinx teachers, bilingual educators, and special educators in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, the Southwest, and beyond. We provide a full range of EC6 programs including undergraduate programs leading to teacher certification via a Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies in Bilingual Education, English as a Second Language, and Special Education, and we also teach the curriculum core of UTRGV's EC3 program. We also host eleven graduate programs and certificates including an Ed. D. in Curriculum and Instruction.
Minimum Qualifications
in Curriculum and Instruction or related field including curriculum studies, educational leadership, early childhood education, or bilingual education, among others plus three years of experience in public school teaching.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
in Curriculum and Instruction or related field including curriculum studies, educational leadership, early childhood education, or bilingual education, among others plus three years of experience in public school teaching.
Preferred Qualification
Five years of teaching experience in public schools
Twelve hours of doctoral study in curriculum and instruction
Experience in curriculum planning and leadership
Experience in STEM teaching
Experience social studies/language arts teaching.
SalaryOne-Year Lecturers are paid a 9-month academic rate commensurate with experience and/or qualification in the discipline.

Texas law requires faculty members whose primary language is not English to demonstrate proficiency in English as determined by a satisfactory paper-based test score of 500 (computer-based of 173 or internet-based of 61) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language ( TOEFL ) or a satisfactory test score of 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System ( IELTS ).
