FUNCTIONS:
- Floats as requested by the team leader and/or supervisor/staffing coordinator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist in the completion of the patient database.
Delivers age appropriate care.
Utilization of critical thinking skills in prioritization of care.
Participates in the development and prioritization of individualized plan of care.
Collaborates with other disciplines in plan of care.
Assists with discharge planning needs.
Documents interventions that are accurate, pertinent, timely, and legible.
Administers medication observing the "5 rights"
Administers medication correctly based on patients age, and clinical condition.
Performs skills and task required by unit expectations.
Provides safe environment.
Includes patient, caregivers, and disciplines in care council and health teaching.
Demonstrates correct troubleshooting of equipment.
Evaluates the efficacy of medications, treatments, and plan of care.
Provides health care at the best value without compromising patient care.
Responsible and accountable for all actions.
Practices within the scope of license.
Communicates evaluation to appropriate disciplines.
Communicates concerns, and assessments to the RN.
Regularly attends department meetings.
Assists with setting up room post-procedure.
Follows established SGNA and vendor guidelines for leak testing, cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilization of scopes and accessories before and after procedures.
Assists in maintaining physical and environmental care between and after admission.
Assist with procedures and patient care as assigned.
Performs daily maintenance checks of endoscopes.
Ensures scope availability to facilitate efficiency in room turnover.
Utilizes established criteria to determine patient readiness for discharge from unit.
Safety and proficiently assesses peripheral veins for the purpose of obtaining blood for diagnostic testing or initiating IV therapy.
EKG: Correctly applies leads and performs test accurately for interpretation.
Teaching: Provides appropriate information and instruction to patient and family to prepare and recover from procedure/treatment.
Utilizes two identifiers for proper patient identification.
Verifies surgical site/procedure per patient/family, H&P, order, consent, and surgical schedule.
Correct demonstrate, perform, and documents "Timeout" when applicable.
Correctly demonstrates, perform and documents effective communication between caregivers.
Accurately and completely perform and document Medication Reconciliation process.

Required Experience
Minimum Education
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
Required License
Nursing Assistant
- Successful completion of Nurse Aide course or the equivalent.
- Current Certified Nursing Aide from the state of Kentucky.
- BLS certification - American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or American Red Cross (Healthcare Provider) required, must be current.
Minimum Work Experience
- One year experience in Nursing/Surgery preferred.
