Provides assistance to the Infection Prevention/Control program for prevention, control, and surveillance of infections for all patients and Associates. Exhibits the F. I. R. S. T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort
Works in a well-lighted, ventilated, air-conditioned area. Often exposed to unpleasant odors, sights and sounds. Long periods in a stationary position and moving around the unit are required. Risks exposure to disease, infection, physical and mental strain. Risks exposure to blood, body fluids and tissue. Exposure to stressful situations, time restraints and deadlines. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently. Must be able to have flexible schedule while not exceeding scheduled worked hours to attend occasional early morning and late evening meetings and activities.
Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents
Education: Graduate an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or three (3) years' experience in Infection Prevention with current Kentucky Nursing Licensure, Master's Degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum two to four (2-4) year's clinical experience. Certification in Infection Prevention and Control preferred.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Knowledge of current Infection Prevention/Control practices and the ability to make collaborative judgments concerning infection prevention. Ability to attend training/educational programs. Ability to use logs, graphs, computer and calculator. Ability to organize and effectively utilize time.
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations
Current Nursing Licensure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Certification in Infection Prevention/Control Required. (Required after two [2] years of experience).
