EDUCATIONAL NURSE COORDINATOR (Mott Childrens Hospital- 7 East, Pediatric Cancer Unit)

**Job Summary**

7 EAST MOTT is a 32 bed acute pediatric hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant unit. Patients range in age from newborn to young adulthood. Patient diagnoses include sickle cell anemia, leukemia, lymphoma and solid tumors. Ongoing education includes a Chemotherapy Certification course, and an eight-day Bone Marrow Transplant course.

**Responsibilities***

As a night shift ENC, oversee 7 East orientation program, including scheduling, preceptor training and development, orientee performance feedback, completion and maintenance of orientation records/documentation, and evaluation of orientation program

Identify and assess the continuing education, in-service, and developmental needs of the unit nursing team members in collaboration with the 7 East nursing leadership team

Assist in the annual development of nursing competency requirements, coordinate 7 East Blitz and retreat, oversee completion and maintenance of records/documentation, in collaboration with the 7 East nursing leadership team and Unit-Based Committee,

Assist in the design and implementation of staff developmental plans, in collaboration with 7 East nursing leadership

Coordinate the completion of unit-based mandatories and institutional regulatory requirements

Conduct individualized and group learning programs for members of the nursing staff

Provide on-going educational needs and facilitate in-services as appropriate to the needs of the nursing staff

Actively participate in unit leadership team, research, and Quality Improvement

Perform audits and coaching related to QI initiatives

Maintain accurate documentation in hospital records and other databases

Provide direct nursing care to all patient populations on 7 East

Represent 7 East on unit, nursing, and hospital-wide committees

Promote the 7 East values to empower each other to interrupt or disrupt disrespect

**Hourly range for RSAM Registered Nurses** **$41.44 - $64.45 / hour**

Evening Shift Differential-$3.00 / hour

Night Shift Differential- $4.00 / hour

Day Shift Weekend Differential- $2.90 / hour

Evening Shift Weekend Differential- $5.90 / hour

Night Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hour

Charge Nurse Differential- $1.00 / hour

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:

This UMPNC RN posting is posted under the Role-Specific Advancement Model (RSAM) as:

ENC- COMPETENT.

Actual RSAM LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.

RSAM levels range from ENC-COMPETENT to ENC-EXPERT TO ENC-MASTERY TO ENC- MASTERY PLUS

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period.

Applicants who have left the UMPNC bargaining unit must include on their resume dates of past employment including months and years of service along with effort. Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.

**Required Qualifications***

Candidate must hold a current licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan Medicine

Bachelor of Science in nursing degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Demonstrated expert nursing knowledge in the care of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT patient population with 5 or more years of pediatric experience

Candidate must be able to provide direct patient care to specialty to demonstrate clinical nursing role expertise

Expectations of the position:

Candidate must possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, to include strong facilitative interpersonal skills, skills to successfully resolve conflicts, excellent critical thinking skills and ability to provide direct and effective feedback as evidenced by previous/current employment experience and demonstrated in annual evaluations.

Self-directed, dependable, demonstrates initiative and motivation to work independently and collaboratively with other health care providers, as evidenced by previous/current employment experience and demonstrated in annual evaluations.

Demonstrated ability to facilitate change, direct nursing practice, delegate, and evaluate outcomes, as evidenced by previous/current employment experience, and demonstrated in annual evaluations.

Demonstrated unit and committee involvement with evidence of accepting increasing responsibilities which could include experience in the Charge Nurse Role, preceptor experience, teaching experience, in-service speaker, nursing competency work, etc., as evidenced by previous/current employment experience and demonstrated in annual evaluations
