A Brief Overview

Insight Global is looking for a Clinical Nurse- PACU/ ICU/CVICU/CATH LAB for our client. As a nurse in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), you will perform established nursing procedures to care for patients recovering from general or regional anesthesia, as well as moderate sedation. Our PACU serves over 20 operating rooms and procedural suites, handling a diverse surgical and procedural volume that includes Orthopedics, General Surgery, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Gynecology, Genitourinary procedures, Robotics, Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, and Interventional Radiology. Most of our patients are both inpatients and outpatients, with high acuity levels similar to those seen in medical-surgical and ICU settings. Additionally, this role involves floating within our paranesthesia region, providing support to the Cath lab, procedure rooms, and operating rooms.

Helping Role and Therapeutic Relationships:

Create and maintain a healing climate by being present for patients and families.

Identify and manage discomforts.

Provide emotional support and information.

Guide patients and families through illness and recovery, respecting their goals and cultural context.

Preferred: ICU experience.

Mobilization of Patient Strengths:

Encourage patient participation in recovery and control over their care plan.

Diagnostic and Monitoring Functions:

Obtain accurate assessment data.

Interpret data as normal or abnormal.

Determine nursing diagnoses.

Monitor and evaluate data based on stability.

Therapeutic Interventions:

Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team.

Develop individualized care plans.

Implement safe nursing and medical interventions.

Evaluate intervention effectiveness and monitor for adverse responses.

Teaching and Coaching:

Assess patient and family learning needs.

Provide self-care and illness prevention information.

Adjust teaching based on responses, developmental levels, and cultural factors.

Teach other staff members incidentally or formally.

Effective Management of Rapidly Changing Situations:

Quickly grasp problem situations.

Activate emergency protocols when needed.

Quality Healthcare Practices:

Monitor own practices and promote safety.

Seek opportunities for improvement.

Organization and Work Role Functions:

Prioritize tasks and delegate appropriately.

Contribute to team building and positive morale.

Leadership and Professional Practice Evaluation:

Demonstrate leadership.

Evaluate nursing practice against standards and guidelines.

Clinical Judgment and Anesthesia Care:

Use critical reasoning for complex or life-threatening cases.

Perform nursing procedures for patients recovering from anesthesia.

Surgical Setting Details:

Pre-op/PACU with 70 bays serving a 30 OR suite.

Surgical volume includes various specialties (orthopedics, general surgery, plastics, ophthalmology, neuro, GYN, GU, Robotics).

Mix of inpatient and outpatient cases.

High patient acuity reflecting med-surg and ICU patients.

Position may involve floating

within our paranesthesia region in both pre and post operative anesthesia care units

Skills and Requirements

MINMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education Qualifications

Bachelors Degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited academic institution. (preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

RN - Registered Nurse

BLS - Basic Life Support

ACLS

Experience

Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

ICU experience preferred with preop and post experience

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS & ABILITIES

Knowledge in specialty area of practice

Knowledge of computer systems and software used in assigned work area null
