DEPARTMENT: Nursing

POSITION: Assistant Director of Nursing Services

SUPERVISOR: Director of Nursing Services

HOURS: Full Time

SALARY: $90,000 to $100,000 Commensurate with experience,

Job Duties:

Assists with infection control functions and audits.

Acts as liaison between medical staff and families regarding patient care issues.

Determines need for notifications of physician, families and/or administration of events occurring on shift.

Works with the facility Purchasing Manager to assure that all houses are stocked with adequate equipment and supplies for continuity of care to the residents.

Oversees the daily operations of the rehab and neuro units as well as the long-term care houses in conjunction with the Director of Nursing.

Monitors compliance of employee health assessments for employees working in the long-term care houses.

Monitors compliance of employee COVID testing for all employees working in the long-term care houses as needed.

Completes audits as assigned by the Director of Nursing to assure compliance with all state and federal regulations as well as facility's Plan of Correction for Department of Health surveys.

Oversight of the other Unit Manager(s) of the long-term care houses.

Interviews prospective nursing employees and assists in onboarding of new nursing employees.

Works with the nursing scheduler as needed to ensure proper staffing is in place on all units.

Works with the Education Department to assure mandatory and annual inservicing is completed with all nursing employees working in the long-term care houses.

Communicates with Director of Nursing in regard to employee disciplinary issues as well as provides investigative assistance as needed for any employee/resident/family concerns on the neuro and rehab units as well as in the long-term care houses.

Reviews resident accident/incident reports for residents in the long-term care houses including root cause analysis, employee statement gathering, investigation, and preventative measures.

Is part of the nursing management on-call rotation, including occasional facility supervisory shift coverage as deemed necessary by facility needs.

Completes any necessary reports as directed by the Director of Nursing.

Acts in the capacity of Nursing Director in the absence of the Director of Nursing.

Actively participates in:

Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Committee

Safety Committee

Leadership Management Meeting

Morning Report

Skin Care Meetings

Any Nursing Staff Meetings scheduled by the Director of Nursing

Access to entire medical record of all patient's/resident's.

Performs duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards and in adherence with the facility's corporate compliance plan and applicable governing laws. Adheres to the facility's confidentiality statement in accessing and safeguarding protected health information (PHI) of residents and employees, as necessary to perform job duties.

Any other duties as directed by the Director of Nursing Services.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

Graduate of a New York State approved school for nursing with Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.

Five years progressive clinical experience, LTC experience preferred.

Three years recent experience in Nursing Administration.

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of nursing staff and other disciplines as needed.

Familiarity with New York State Nursing Home Regulations.

Flexibility in work schedule as needed.
