Minimum Qualifications Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; a bachelor's degree in nursing; and one year of service as a Registered Nurse 3 (Infection Control) or Registered Nurse Supervisor the number of interested candidates is three or fewer, a competitive examination will not be held and the agency at its discretion may nominate a qualified employee for noncompetitive promotion under the provisions of Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:Experience with infection control surveillance, data collection and analysis. Knowledge of Meditech and data entry. Ability to communicate and interact with other professional staff and peers effectively. Experience teaching groups and preparing course descriptions. Excellent physical assessment skills. ACLS certified. Demonstrates excellent leadership skills. Board certified in Infection Prevention.
Duties Description The Assistant Director of Nursing (Infection Control) will be responsible for the management of the hospital's Infection Control Program, facility infection control protocols, and N-95 Fit Testing Programs as well as coordinating and monitoring all aspects of Employee Health and Laboratory Services for the Hospital, supervising subordinate program staff; Ensures that the competence of all staff members supervised is assessed, maintained, demonstrated and improved on an ongoing basis, including competency related to the physical, psychological, cultural, and religious needs of the patient specific to their age level; Coordination and monitoring of all aspects of the Employee Health program, including the orientation of new employees, regarding services rendered in the Employee Health Department; Assists with the establishment and maintenance of an Infection Prevention program, and Employee Health data collection, including tabulation, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of results forpatients and employees; Develops and revises Infection Prevention policies and isolation techniques in accordance with accepted current standards of practice to provide optimum care to patients with infectious or communicable diseaseSupervises the performance of staff regarding patient care and employee activities in the implementation of Infection Prevention to assure compliance and safe practice and other duties as assigned.
